Sugiyama Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in Japan boasts over 70 years of experience and advanced medical technology. With renowned experts from around the world, it integrates reproductive medicine (infertility treatment, endoscopic surgery) with obstetrics and gynecology (childbirth), making it an exceptional obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Japan.

Founded 80 years ago, the hospital initially provided obstetrics and gynecology services for childbirth in Tokyo. Under the leadership of Chairman Sugiyama, a specialized reproductive medical department was established 25 years ago. Currently, the group operates three hospitals: the Shinjuku Reproductive Medical Center in Tokyo, the Marunouchi Reproductive Branch in Tokyo, and the Setagaya Obstetrics Specialty Hospital in Tokyo. In 2000, Setagaya opened a comprehensive hospital integrating reproductive and obstetric services. In 2011, the Marunouchi Reproductive Medical Comprehensive Hospital began offering reproductive medical services such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy and third-generation IVF. In 2018, the Sugiyama Obstetrics and Gynecology Reproductive Headquarters relocated to the Shinjuku Reproductive Medical Center.

The Shinjuku headquarters currently has over 20 medical experts on staff and a total medical team exceeding 100 members. It is a reproductive medical center capable of comprehensively addressing male-factor, female-factor, and mixed infertility issues. Our experts are on rotation to ensure year-round consultations.

Clinic Philosophy: Balancing Work and Treatment

Infertility treatment requires frequent hospital visits and a long treatment cycle, often forcing patients to resign from their jobs. Therefore, Shinjuku Sugiyama Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has created conditions for patients to continue working while not missing follow-up visits. Patients can register at 8:00 am each day and receive medical care before 19:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (embryo transfer registration ends at 18:30). The hospital has established a system for IVF and AI treatment on weekends and holidays.

Providing State-of-the-Art Assisted Reproductive Technology

Beyond conventional IVF techniques, Shinjuku Sugiyama Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital offers new strategies for refractory infertility for those who have not conceived after multiple attempts. The hospital has established an anti-aging clinic focused on oocyte rejuvenation to improve mitochondrial function. Additionally, several male infertility specialists have been added to receive male consultations.

Refractory Implantation Failure Clinic

Shinjuku Sugiyama Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has hired Dr. Eiji Kuroda, who conducted research on “implantation failure” at Juntendo University for a long time, as the director of the Refractory Implantation Failure Clinic, providing patients with more professional treatment. Deterioration of the intrauterine environment is one of the reasons for implantation failure. In IVF, more than 80% of those under 40 years old who undergo transfer of four or more high-quality embryos are likely to become pregnant. If four or more high-quality embryos are transferred and pregnancy is not achieved after three or more attempts, it is called “refractory implantation failure.” Although the causes of implantation failure are currently difficult to investigate, our hospital has new treatment methods for refractory implantation failure.

1、Embryo-related issues → Preimplantation genetic diagnosis

2、Intrauterine environmental issues → Hysteroscopy (can diagnose endometritis in addition to polyps)

3、Immune abnormalities receiving the embryo → Immune testing (blood test for Th1/Th2 cells and vitamin D)
