Dr. Liu is an internationally recognized reproductive scientist and embryologist with outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of human reproduction. Dr. Liu created the three-parent embryo, resulting in what is known as the world’s first three-parent baby. He serves as the Chief Embryologist and Scientific Director of ALLcare Fertility Center. Dr. Liu has an extensive and unique research and clinical background. Dr. Liu received his M.D. in 1985 and his M.S. in 1990. Dr. Liu was a research associate at the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Biology, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences for eight years. Dr. Liu was invited to join the New York University In Vitro Fertilization Program as a research scientist for ten years. He was involved in IVF research, development of advanced infertility techniques and development of egg cryopreservation vitrification techniques.
Dr. Liu has published more than 50 publications worldwide, prestigious refereed journals, and has given numerous oral presentations at ASRM.
Dr. Liu focuses on oocyte maturation to find ways to overcome the obstacle of infertility in older women. Dr. Liu has successfully produced GV embryos in older women by applying in vitro maturation techniques to very immature oocytes at the GV stage, which is an important step in spermatogonial vesicle transfer, a technique designed to provide alternative treatments for mother’s geriatric infertility.
